The marvel that is the “back”

Our back is a sophisticated marvel: its central axis - the spine - consists of tailbone, sacrum and 24 freely movable vertebrae above them. A good 200 small muscles braced in all directions give the vertebrae stability and elasticity. Countless other groups of muscles form our back by “connecting” thorax, pelvis and shoulders to the central axis.


This design is perfect for walking in an upright position and is suitable for a human life lasting 100 years provided that all components of the body – feet, legs, pelvis, trunk, shoulders – are optimally aligned and the two horizontal intermediate levels pelvic floor and diaphragm are active and evenly balanced.


Flat feet, knock knees or bandy legs, a tilted pelvis, a sunken thorax as well as hunched shoulders and collar bones all take their toll on the back. The consequences are pains of all kinds and deformations of the spine.


CANTIENICA® back training teaches you how to deliberately straighten up your back and precisely align the entire spine from the tailbone to the Atlas bone. The targeted activation of pelvic floor and diaphragm helps you to do this.
